Standing on the podium of the Integrated Governance Index 2019
The public company, which supplies water to 2.2 million inhabitants every year, stands out in the sector for its sustainable governance in the Lombardy region. CAP is one of the most innovative circular economy projects on the national scene, starting with the extraction of biomethane from sewage at the Bresso-Niguarda plant, an activity that will lead to the conversion of all CAP treatment plants into bio-refineries in the long term.
Recently, the company presented its first sustainability plan, a roadmap created from the shared vision of management that extends to 2033, imagining the evolution of future scenarios to anticipate the impact of major social, environmental and economic trends on the lives of citizens.
"Complex challenges await us from now until 2033, thanks to the changes in the global scenario that will affect all sectors", explains Alessandro Russo, president and CEO of the water utility. "It is therefore necessary to place regional development under the magnifying glass of sustainability, a fundamental factor in a scenario in which numerous dynamics in the management of primary assets will have to be rewritten. We must learn to be sensitive to change, resilient and able to innovate".
Developed by ETicaNews with the collaboration of TopLegal, the Integrated Governance Index, has been extended this year to include, in addition to the top 100 listed companies, the companies that issued the Non-Financial Declaration in 2018 (CONSOB basket), including the CAP Group, and the top 50 Italian industrial companies.
The IGI, now in its sixth year, is currently the only research project on the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) in business management models, annually measuring how companies are structured to manage sustainability issues.
The results and industry rankings, presented today, June 13 at the ESG Business Conference, held at the Palazzo Giureconsulti in Milan, are designed to be the cornerstone of the first sustainability governance observatory in Italy and Europe.
